Backgammon
Tim and I recently took up playing backgammon at Yahoo Games. This
reminded me that I had a seen a patter n for such a board in my
weekend knitting book. With Valentine's Day approaching, I deemed this
knit through class, chapel and a few movies. When the board was knit,
I made a trip to the dollar store in search of some sort of hard back
and for pieces with which to play. I found just what I needed:
linoleum tiles and those flat marble things that are sometimes found
in fish tanks. My delight at making such a thrifty purchase was popped
along with two of my tires when I ran over a curb on the way home.
Anyway, I returned to Gordon and cut the tiles into squares and sewed
them into the board. The clever idea for the pieces I can't take
credit for; I was brow sing different artsy sites and stumbled upon
this one (I also loosely copied one of her sewing patterns and made a
skirt last weekend). I cut out and glued on hearts for one set of the
playing pieces and for the other used a picture of Tim and myself. I
finished up by sewing a little bag for the pieces and tied it all up
in a ribbon, and there you have it, happy valentine's day.
Tim and I played a number of times this past weekend, almost all of
which he won, proving his theory that the only reason I won most of
the games that we played online was because the computer gave me the
